A History of the Most Remarkable Adirondack Hamlet
Onchiota Remembered is the culmination of Phil Fitzpatrick's curiosity about the unique, tiny hamlet of Onchiota, just 13 miles away from Saranac Lake, where he and his wife have a summer camp. Onchiota is the Onondaga word for rainbow, which is believed by people of the Six Nations to be a sign of blessings descending from the Sky World. It is no wonder then that Onchiota is home to and has attracted many brave, pioneering people and is home to the exquisite Rainbow Lake.
Fitzpatrick invites you to take part in this colloquial story of a small place with a big spirit and to hold onto your grains of salt if you must.
